Title: Coordinated School Health Director School Health Services Program

DUTIES: This position will be responsible for acting as the senior program specialist in partnership with the school health team members at the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) to carry out the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Chronic Disease 1305 grant workplan, specifically the school health poriton of the grant, in leading school nutrition, physical activity, and school nursing activities described in the workplan concerning best practices and national standards for school districts statewide. This position will be responsible for presenting information to a variety of audiences about school health; provide on-site technical assistance to school and district personnel for implementing the Whole School Whole Community Whole Child (WSCC) model, school health policies, and school wellness committees; coordinating statewide meetings and professional development opportunities for district personnel in developing, planning, initiating, and maintaining a WSCC program; assist in evaluating the effectiveness of school health programs; and will maintain internal and external contact with federal, state, and local officials and other stakeholders. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Highly qualified individual must have experience working with K-12 institutions, knowledge in school health programming and grant administration and evaluation; developing high quality professional development opportunities and successful eventplanning. Ability to meet deadlines, travel in-state and out of state as needed and work collaboratively with education and public health institutions and local municipal leaders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in public health, physical/health education or a related field; plusfour years of experience in education, public school administration, or a related field. Masters degree in Education or Public Health Preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, Licensed in K12 Physical Education or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) Preferred. Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license.
