Destruction of Records
Beginning May 1, 2026, Dawson Education Early Childhood Special Education Department will destroy special education records that over are six (6) years old. According to state and federal guidelines, special education records can be destroyed six (6) years after the student leaves the program. If your child received special education services during the 2019-2020 school year, you have the right to review and request copies of these records before they are destroyed.

*Please note: These do not includes any additional permanent school records. They are only special education due process forms and evaluation data. The Early Childhood Special Education department includes records from the referral (as early as age 2 years, 9 months) to dismissal from services or transition to the school-age program.
