Destruction of Records

Beginning May 1, 2022, Dawson Education Early Childhood Special Education Department will destroy special education records that are six (6) years old. According to state and federal guidelines, special educaiton records can be destroyed six (6) years after the student leaves the program. If your child received special education services during the 2015-2016 school year, you have the right to review and request copies of these records before they are destroyed.

*Please note: These records are not permanent school records. They are only special education due process forms and evaluation data. The Early Childhood Special Education department includes records from the referral (as early as age 2 years, 9 months) to dismissal from services or transition to the school-age program.
